I have an announcement. Work is where we spend most of our lives. When something goes wrong at work, it can turn everything upside down. Losing a job unfairly, being expected to tolerate oppressive conduct in order to keep a job, or facing professional setbacks for speaking up about an unsafe work environment isn’t just a legal issue. These types of experiences are deeply personal and can often cause long-lasting trauma that requires additional resources and support to recover from. Receiving support from professionals who fully understand the gravity and intersectional nature of work-related trauma largely impacts how individuals and their families get back on their feet… Over the past few years, and behind closed doors, I have been the plaintiff in an employment lawsuit. Last week I was sworn in, officially crossing the final requirement to become a licensed California attorney, and the next day I filed the incorporation paperwork necessary to open my own law firm.
I am proud to introduce Manifest Justice Law Corporation, (“MJLC”), a trauma-informed employment law firm for people who have experienced harassment, discrimination, or retaliation at work. MJLC was built to support survivors of workplace violence and bigotry. As such, MJLC also dedicates time to helping independent contractors get paid in full and on time.
Manifest Justice Law Corporation is unique because of our client-centered, trauma-informed approach. MJLC was built and founded by an attorney who sued their employer before becoming a lawyer, and personally understands the multi-faceted toll that workplace violence and employment litigation takes on individuals, their families, and surrounding communities. Although no two workplace situations are the same, all employment issues affect the livelihoods, families, mental health, and futures of the people facing them. With this in mind, MJLC was intentionally designed to minimize additional and re-traumatization employees typically experience throughout the employment litigation process. The firm is connected to a network of multi-disciplinary professionals who have experience working directly with survivors of complex trauma.
